How To Market Yourself Using The PT Project

bunny11boutmeThe PT Project is a great place for you to build your professional reputation.  It can be an effective marketing tool, and the best part is – it’s absolutely free!  Fame can be yours if you’re willing to put yourself out there and show the world what you’ve got (or what you know or can do).  Be a little assertive in the process and you can reap quite a bit of value from the experience.  In fact, utilizing The PT Project as an avenue to market yourself may be one of the most effective – and least expensive – ways to promote your services, display your expertise, and ultimately build your business.

So, how do you market yourself using The PT Project?

  1.  Submit a post.  It doesn’t need to be lengthy – in fact, short and sweet posts are probably the ones most read.  Write about what you are doing in your practice, what works or doesn’t work, or describe something that may be unique to your practice (for example, maybe you work in Colorado and treat a lot of skiing injuries.  Share your tips and tricks for those sport-specific injuries across the globe!).  While you may think that what you do on an everyday basis is not of interest to others, you can be sure that somewhere it will provide great benefit to someone.  Don’t like to write?  Your post can even be in the form of a video, which is also effective.
  2. Submit a photo and bio.  A professional photo is a great addition to your submission.  Get creative with your bio and use it as a valuable opportunity to build links to your website.  Google loves relevant, quality links and uses those links to rate the importance of your site.  The PT Project is a great place to generate really high quality links to your site that are targeted and relevant.
  3. Market your post.  Once your post is up on The PT Project site, it’s time to do a bit of marketing.  Post the link on your Facebook page (this is super easy to do – just copy and paste the URL of your post to display it on your wall).  If you use Twitter, tweet the post (we tweet all posts, too!).
  4. Want to be a bit more aggressive?  Run a press release.  A great way to expand the impact of your submission is to write a press release and submit it to a quality online press release site, like www.PRWeb.com.  Title the release something like “Local Physical Therapist Published on International Resource” – or come up with a similar title that grabs attention.  Once your press release runs, make sure your local paper picks up the release and writes an article on you (you may need to contact them to get this done).
  5. Don’t feel comfortable with your writing?  If you need help writing an article or a press release, have an idea but want someone to do the writing for you, or if you just need someone to “clean up” what you’ve already written, let me know.  I have a great copy editor that can help you out and she has lots of writing experience within the field.  I’ll be happy to share her contact info with you.

By contributing to The PT Project, you can do more than simply share information with the rest of the worldwide PT community.  You can position yourself as an expert in the field, and the rewards you can reap by marketing yourself through this channel can be well worth the effort.

Why not give it a try?
