Generic or Original
When I see websites that use all stock images, I somewhat unconsciously judge them as simple templates or unimaginative. I like to use fresh pictures in our marketing material. It’s certainly harder and more expensive to hire a photographer, and sometimes even models to take original pictures however, I am always more satisfied with a picture that speaks our language than a picture that is generic.
This article in the NY Times quotes a study that indicated that customers overlook stock pictures; their eye actually ignores them.
After reading this article, I am going to take original pictures for the NY SportsMed home page and replace the stock images that we are using.

This was an interesting article, but I felt that other studies could have been performed that would have resulted in more accurate results.
